Is Love In The Air?

It’s been some time since the last post :) It’s been a long day… just came back from CA and at this point I just don’t feel like studying, or sleeping, or doing anything else.

Classes are not exactly that hectic yet, but I do feel busy, padding all the intervals between classes with quick naps. hehe. 3rd floor in the library. best place on earth to sleep. The other day when I was napping, there were these bunch of girls chattering and laughing themselves off louder than tong, del and I combined. I very impatiently raised my voice at them and ordered them to keep their voices down. Thinking back, I was probably even more impolite. Maybe because I didn’t have my glasses on then. And when things are blurry, when you can’t see the faces of those that you were about to shout at, when you won’t be able to make out their reactions after you shouted at them, you simply shout. That’s it. If I weren’t napping and had my glasses on, the most that I would do is probably just shift to another corner impatiently.

Why are we to do things only when we know people are not looking? Or in this case, when we are not forced to face with others’ reactions? The eyes, or the thought of facing a confrontational stare, would most probably draw us back. Why do we weigh other people’s reaction so heavily, sometimes even altering our decisions to suit others’ appetite, or to make us seem more likable to them? I wish I could do whatever I wanted to, yelling out the muted cacophonies that dwells in within. Real loudly.

Happy Vday to all. To all that believes in love. And to those who do not, remember that God loves you. :)

2009 in words

Finally, a proper post. This 3 weeks of college has been pretty relaxing really, but blogging still doesn’t appear to be one of my priorities. hehe.

This semester there’s some new stuff, more interesting stuff in my opinion. C++ is the new found love! Heck, it feels so good when your program gets to run without errors, better than the contention that solving intricate calculus is satisfying. Cos I’m never able to solve intricate cal questions anyway –_- Then there are these psychological classes, where the lecturer comes enters to class with smiles and such anticipation to teach, except that I would start to feel dizzy, drowsy, and lazy after 10minutes. Maybe 5.

Now that I’m back at home, I feel lazier than ever. It’s just a week off for me, without the slightest vibes for cny. After this would be 3cny’s abroad, and I pledged to enjoy this week to the fullest, but by the looks of it I just feel like having a break from everything. At home. Speaking of home, I finally get to see my iPod which arrived like, a week ago! Weee…

Now all I need is a decent sleeve for it, which I can buy with all the angpau money :D Happy cny guys! Do not wish for prosperity. Wish for health!

Macau

Macau can be amazing in the sense that on Taipa island, the rhythm is so slow, so gradual; while on the peninsular, it's a different story altogether. Vegas-style casino mega hotels are all around the place. However, with more than 20 resorts blueprinted on Taipa, it's gonna outshine its counterpart in less than 10years for sure. And the Venetian! So overrated. Will post about Venetian and casinos later. It's food and local tourists spots today! :)

Our first stop was the food street Rua Do Cunha, more commonly known as 官也街 to the locals. Portuguese settled in Macau since 16th century, all the road signs in over there are bilingual - Chinese and Portuguese rather than English. But frankly, no cab drivers will understand you if you were to tell them your destination in its Portuguese name. The irony -_-

Ah... the St. Paul's ruins. No point telling you the history behind it lah you can just google. I don't find anything so fascinating bout it though. It's weird! How come only the entrance wall is so finely preserved. Seriously, there's nothing behind it, none of the remainings of any sort.

Besides casinos, churches stands number 2. Plenty of them... And most of the buildings over there still carry heavy Portuguese flavors, something reassembling Melacca... vestiges of a colonial past. In one of the museums, mum even spoke to the guard in Malay because she thought she was in Melacca. -_-

On hunt for the best Portuguese egg tarts in town! Lord Stow's is quite a distance from where we stayed so we reckoned we should just stick to Margaret's, which is not bad either! Fillings of the tarts literally melted in my mouth the moment I ate it. Unlike those we have in Malaysia, these are really filling. 2 tarts and there goes your lunch :)

Ok look what I found. Durian in Macau during winter. Awesomeness...

We were lucky because 20th of December turned out to be the SAR establishment day, the day in which China assumed formal sovereignty over Macau. So there were fireworks! And fireworks makes me happy :D Also, the following day was winter solstice. People burning offerings everywhere... the traditional way.

Overlooking Friendship Bridge. Splendid night scene.

Macau without casinos? Of course not. Casinos is the place over there and it deserves its very own post. Till then! :D

p/s: Sigh class starting soon. So depressing.

Merry Christmas

So I'm back from Macau. But my comp is not back... it's still at the repair shop :( Cy's lappie doesn't have live writer so the pics will have to wait.. Cant bear the trouble of uploading and arranging pictures on blogspot.

Blessed Christmas everyone! So much so that the wrold is diverging from its original purpose of celebrating Christ's birth, Christmas is still a season full of love and affection. After this year it's gonna be 3 Christmases away from home. Year after year I'd be secretly longing that someday I could celebrate it out of Kuantan Chapel, where I spent every single Christmas and new year's eve for the past 19yrs. Looking back however, it wasn't that bad after all. Although the church I grew up in is not any whopping assembly, the warmth of it, of just being there, cannot be easily replaced.

Guys if you're reading this I'm so touched that you guys called today, even from the other part of the globe! :D

Merry Christmas everyone, may your day be filled with love, contentment, and blessings. God bless you :)
